What Are The Best Seats On A Plane?
Air travel can be hectic, or it can be smooth flow. Sometimes, the choice is not always yours and you can’t avoid all of the mayhem that goes along with travelling.
However, if you are given the opportunity to select your own seating assignments for your flight, consider it an opportunity to have some control over your travel experience.
Below are 5 of the best seats on a plane.
1. The Window Seat
Window seats offer several benefits.
For starters, they are great if you plan on catching up on some sleep. Instead of using a neck pillow which keeps you more in an upright position, you can lean against the side of the plane for more comfort and support.
Window seats are also good if you are travelling with kids. Looking out the window can provide a nice distraction to keep them entertained for a while.
Another benefit of a window seat is that you don’t have to worry about people crossing over you or having to get up when someone in your row wants to leave their seat.
One con of this seat is that it may feel a little cramped for some people. Additionally, if you are someone who needs to frequent the restroom, this seat may not be suitable for you as you will have to ask people to move whenever you want to get up.
2. The Emergency Exit Row
These seats offer great leg room if you are someone who likes to stretch out, or if you are naturally a taller person.
The exit row is equipped with more space to allow people to get in and out in the event of an emergency. As an added tip, some of the seats in the exit row recline while others (usually the front ones if there are 2 rows) do not.
Note however, children up to a certain age are not allowed to sit in the exit row. Be sure to check with your airline before selecting these seats.
3. Back Plane Seats
Choosing a seat near the back of the plane is ideal if you are travelling with babies or small children.
The restrooms are usually located at the back of the plane which is great for quick access to pamper changes, potty training, and an occasional time out. The galley is also located at the back of an aircraft.
As an added note, seats at the back of a plane are said to be the safest seats on a plane. While a crash is unlikely, the odds of survival are better in the back seating area.
4. Front Plane Seats
Choose a seat at the front of the plane if you want to make a quick exit after landing. These seats are highly sought and may cost a little more than seats further to the back.
Some planes however have rear cabin exits, if this is the case, select a seat closet to the door so that you are able to make a quick exit.
Additionally, seats at the front of the plane put you in line to be first when in-flight meals are being served since service usually starts at the front of the cabin.
Generally, these seats also tend to be a quieter flying experience as there is less noise from kids and families who usually sit at the rear.
5. Seats Near The Wing
Seats over the wing or very near it can provide a much smoother flight experience when turbulence occurs. If you sit in these seats, you will get less of an uneasy feeling during a bumpy ride.
