6 Powerful Things God Says About You

The Bible teaches throughout scripture that God speaks many powerful truths about believers including, who they are, the purpose that he has for their lives, and how much they are loved. When we learn these truths, they increase our faith and make us more confident in our relationship with God.

6 Powerful Things That God Says About You

1. You are forgiven.

Colossians 2:13 states, “And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses.”

This verse is a reminder to believers that all of their trespasses have been forgiven. Jesus paid the price for sin when he died on the cross. This means that believers were given a new spiritual life with him and an opportunity to experience eternal life. Forgiveness is an act of God’s grace. This grace is extended to all those that believe. The only action required is repentance. He is ready and willing to forgive and give us a fresh start.

 2. Shame and your past does not define you.

Since God has forgiven you, you no longer need to hold onto your mistakes. Romans 8:1 states, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

The weight of your past sins was removed after Jesus paid the price. This means that you can set aside negative thoughts that tell you that you are not good enough. You were freed from the power of sin and from judgement. God did not condemn you because of your past mistakes. Those failures do not define who you are now. Your failures have taught you life lessons and are now one of the driving factors that have brought you closer to God. Know that he did not count you out, he replaced your shame with grace and freedom and has given you a new life.

3. You are a new creation.

The Bible states in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

Since you are a new creation, you have a new identity. Your past sins and failures no longer define you. The old life that you lived does not control you, it has lost its power. By choosing to follow Jesus the old life has been done away with, and you have been given a new life filled with new hope, grace, and mercies that are renewed every day. A new life does not mean that you have become instantly perfect. This newness means that God will begin to transform your heart, your direction, and your desires. His spirit will begin working in you.

4. You are dearly loved.

Romans 8:38-39 states, “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39. nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

This verse is a great reminder of the depth of God’s love. His love is stronger than death or life and no spiritual force can separate us from his love. Time does not change it. God’s love is secure and no power, event or circumstance can change that. Always remember that you are loved.

5. He choose you, for a purpose.

Jesus invites people to have a relationship with him and desires that they live fruitful lives that reflect his Father.

The Book of John 15:16 states, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.”

All believers have a purpose which is to live in a way that will bring about lasting spiritual impact. Among other things, a follower of Jesus should love others, help lead people to faith, live a life that mirrors God’s character, and look towards spiritual growth. Believers are encouraged to ask God for guidance through prayer. Not only did he choose you, but he is also prepared to offer you help to fulfil your purpose.

6. You are fearfully and wonderfully made.

In the Book of Psalm David reflects on the creation of human life as he praises God for his own.

He says in Psalm 139:14, “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.”

The message of Psalm 139 is that God is always with us and knows everything about us. Our lives are not by accident. We were all uniquely designed and our existence has value and purpose. Even if others discount you, always remember that you have worth in the eyes of God.

Takeaway

The Bible teaches that God has removed all condemnation from you, he has forgiven you and has given you a new life and identity. He chose you for a purpose and gave you your own unique design. His main desire is that we walk in his ways and share his message of love with others along the way.
